"We, the Roman Catholic community of Good Shepherd Parish, strive to be a living sign of Christ's love in and for the world. In response to our Baptismal call, nourished by the Eucharist and guided by the values of the Second Vatican Council, we seek to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by welcoming, supporting and guiding all through prayer, sacramental celebration, service and education."

Synod of Bishops will meet in October 2018 and will focus on young people,
their faith and vocational discernment.

In order to provide feedback to Pope Francis in preparation for the Synod of Bishops, the Vatican has now launched a dedicated survey for youth and young adults, which links directly to the Synod of Bishops at the Vatican.

CLICK HERE to open the survey link.  The drop-down list in the upper right corner links to the English version.

As stated on the survey page: The goal of this questionnaire - aimed at young people throughout the world from 16 to 29 years of age - is to provide you with the opportunity to communicate, express and recount who you are and what you want to say about yourself.

We encourage all young people and young adults to take the survey.  Your answers will go directly to the Vatican.

Good Shepherd Parish Census 2017

Our Parish has not engaged in a formal census update for a while, and the time has come!  We here at Good Shepherd Parish are keenly interested in all the people who make up our Parish family and in getting to know them better. It is also our deepest desire to serve everyone more completely.

A census will arrive in your mailbox soon.  We ask you to please help us by completing this CONFIDENTIAL parish census, even if you are already a registered parishioner.

Click the printable links to the census and a time and talent forms.

SURPASSED 2017 CATHOLIC APPEAL GOAL
THANK YOU!

Congratulations!  Good Shepherd Parish has surpassed its 2017 Catholic Appeal goal!  We are truly grateful to the parishioners and families that helped us reach our goal.  The Catholic Appeal provides critical funding to hundreds of pastoral, charitable, and educational porgrams that impact tens of thousands throughout our Archdiocese.  Thank you for responding to Cardinal Sean's call to witness more clearly the depths of God's love for each one of us through this important effort.

NPH USA

Join the photo wall of NPH Sponsored Children: Each week in this column we will tell you about a child that is looking for a sponsor or about a child that is being sponsored by one of our parishioners.

Meet Jose Jahir:  Jose is 12 and lives in the NPH home in Honduras. His favorite food is chicken and en enjoys playing with his friends in his free time.  Jose and his 3 siblings joined the NPH family in 2013 after their mother passed away and their father abandoned them.  After their mother’s death, Jose and his silblings went to live with their older sister, but she did not have the resources to provide adequate care or education for them.  NPH Honduras notes that Joes is an active and social member of the NPH family.  Please contact Jody Pongratz (jpongratz@goodshepherdwayland.org if you are interested in sponsoring Jose.

Please consider sponsoring a university student or a child such as Jose  living in one of the NPH homes.  We are hoping that 10 more children will be sponsored by GSP parishioners as well as 5 university student sponsorships. We are confident that the family of Good Shepherd Parish will once more open their hearts to support the children of NPH.

NPH Trips:  Experience firsthand how NPHUSA changes the lives of children!   We are working on a trip for early summer 2018.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, going on a trip or getting involved with NPH, please be in touch with Sally DeGeorge: degeorgio@verizon.net, Eleanor Paglia: Eleanor.paglia@gmail.com, or Jody Pongratz jpongratz@goodshepherdwayland.org.

Stephen Ministry

When We Need God’s Love Most

When do we need God’s love most? Of course we need that love every second of our

lives. But at times God’s love is especially precious to us, times when we lose a loved

one or when life becomes so confusing that we do not know where to turn. At times like

these, it is very important to have someone who cares. Our parish has trained 10 Stephen

Ministers, lay people who offer a ministry of Christian caring within our parish and

beyond.

EXTEND THE INVITATION

“Come and see” was the invitation Jesus offered to a few men of Galilee who were interested in knowing more about him – who he was, where he lived, what his teachings were about? This same invitation we extend to adults who have not been baptized or who have been baptized in another faith tradition but are interested in the Catholic faith or adults who have not received First Holy Communion or Confirmation. Please share this invitation with family members, neighbors or friends. Questions? Contact Sister Roberta at rrzeznik@goodshepherdwayland.org or 508.650.3545.
